Common questions
Nothing plays.
Check the phone or tablet volume and the Master slider, and that Bluetooth is connected. Buttons with a dashed outline are songs not on this device yet: tap Settings › Check for updates on wifi.
The sound is a little late on the speaker.
Bluetooth always adds a short delay. Tap the goal horn as soon as the goal is scored. A cable to the sound system has no delay.
The screen turns off during the game.
iPhone / iPad: Settings app › Display & Brightness › Auto-Lock › the longest time. Android: Settings › Display › Screen timeout › the longest time.
It says “A new version of Rinkside is ready.”
Tap Update now when nothing is playing (close Settings first). Your music, buttons and settings stay. Small fixes install by themselves; the screen may blink for a second.
The team button shows the wrong teams.
It lists the teams your Google account has access to. Tap Settings › Check for updates on wifi. Team missing? Ask your organizer. Too many teams? Settings › This device › Teams on this device.
How do the random buttons (Penalty, Icing…) work?
Each tap plays a song from that group that hasn't played yet this game. A group with only a few songs comes back around sooner.
My phone is running out of space.
Settings › This device › Clean up storage. It shows what it would remove before anything is deleted.
I'm my team's music volunteer. How do I change our music?
Tap Check for updates, then Edit. Tap the team button to pick the goal horn and playlists. Then Settings › Publish and tap Publish next to your team.
How do I move a button?
Tap Edit, then press and hold the button until it lifts up, and drag it to its new spot. Then Settings › Publish so everyone gets the new order.
I made a mess. Can I undo?
Settings › This device › Reset to the Drive layout (tap twice). Your music stays.
For organizers
Settings › Publish shows each place you can publish to and what changed. Admin (in the same tab) shows every team, who has access, and what needs attention. New songs you put in Drive get buttons when you tap Check for updates. To move a button, tap Edit, then press and hold it and drag. The full guide covers publishing, Admin and the layout file.
